Awakening to the Light: A Spring-Summer Prenatal Yoga Series
Nurturing the sacred journey of pregnancy through movement, connection, and transformation.
Rooted in community care and the sacred bond with your baby, this series is an invitation to slow down, move gently, and connect—both with yourself and others on the same path.
Together, we’ll breathe, stretch, and soften into the strength it takes to birth a baby.
Join us every Sunday from 6:45 PM to 8:00 PM, May 25 to July 6 (please note: no class on June 29).
These intimate studio group classes are held at Little Words Studio (204-3355 North Road, Burnaby - Upper Parking Lot).
Special Class - Summer Solstice Ceremony:
On Sunday, June 22nd, we will begin with an acknowledgment of the Summer Solstice before moving into the movement portion of our session.
The Summer Solstice marks the peak of light and abundance, a powerful time of growth and energy. As the longest day of the year, it mirrors the sacred process of childbirth—stepping into the fullness of new life, with our inner light shining brightly. As we embrace summer, we honour this transition and the nurturing energy it brings.
Please bring to each class:
Yoga mat
Journal and pen (optional)
Blanket and pillow/bolster for comfort during savasana (optional)

Benefits of yoga
Helps nurture healthy posture and protects the spine with movement designed for optimal alignment
Improves strength, balance, and stamina
Increases circulation and lymph drainage, boosting immunity
May boost mood and induce a peaceful mindset
Calms the nervous system and often increases feelings of relaxation
Prenatal Yoga
There are many benefits of practicing yoga during pregnancy, including reduced stress, improved sleep, plus increased strength and endurance. Yoga is also an excellent preparation for your mind and body for birth. In the words of my beautiful teacher, Lori Lucas, yoga teaches you how to "relax on purpose". During the birth process, purposeful relaxation helps open up your body and allows for rest in between each wave.
Postpartum Yoga
Similar to prenatal yoga there are incredible benefits to practicing yoga after baby arrives. These benefits include getting back in touch with your core, elevating strain from long feeding sessions, plus engaging and increasing muscle tone in the pelvic floor.
Yoga also helps reduce overall stress and assists in restoring your hormonal balance.
